Give up naps? NO WAY!

Camilla has almost always had a strange sleep schedule. She doesn’t seem to need the normal amount of sleep that my other babies needed. She only gets about 8 hours of sleep a night. She does nap but only about two hours. Lately, she just keeps on going to bed later and later. Yesterday Curtis said we should probably just get rid of her naps. She will probably go to bed really early. No Way!

I will keep dealing with the later bedtimes. I am nowhere near getting rid of the naps.

Because . . . . . .

  1. I need these naps for my sanity. I need at least sometime to myself in a day.
  2. I need to be able to clean up the massive mess she made in the morning. (Camilla is at the stage that she loves to dump everything. She seems to think if her room does not have a pile of toys on the floor something is wrong. If she is up and I attempt to put things in a box she will not let me get more than three and she has dumped them. In fact, yesterday James’ room was a mess and I casually said, “Oh boy James room is a mess.” And she said “Oh no, James’ room is nice”)
  3. I need dejunking time. I have made it a goal to spend at least 15 minutes a day for two weeks at a time in each room of the house getting rid of junk and organizing. I figured that I can finish every room in the house before the kids get out of school. I organized one day with Camilla and she found this to be so much fun. I am sure she was thinking look at all these treasures I can keep in my room. I did catch her with some garbage from James’ room that she had retrieved.
  4. Sometimes I need time to do something she cannot get into. For instance I wanted to touch up some paint around the house. I could not do that if she wasn’t napping.
  5. I need a nap sometimes too.
  6. Some days, unfortunately, I haven’t gotten a shower yet and her nap is a perfect time.
  7. Exercise, if I haven’t done it yet, this is when I do.
  8. I am just tired of saving her from re-breaking her arm. I NEED TO HAVE A REPRIEVE.

I can deal with her a little later at night if I can still enjoy the wonderful quiet two-hour naps that she still takes.

Update: Thanks to everyone that commented on my blog about her broken arm. It is fun to find that after not looking at the blog for a few days that people have commented. Anyway, after a week we got Camilla’s arm X-rayed again. I was so worried because I thought that she had probably caused her bone to shift because I have not been able to keep her calm all week. She has certainly been her energetic, not exactly cautious self. But it turns out the X-ray looked good and that she will only need to wear the sling and splint for three weeks total. This makes me happy!! It will be off by her birthday.

I agree with you naptime is a must. Hopefully it goes well for you. That is good news about her arm.

I am pro nap time. Jack gave his up at about Camilla's age and I never want to have that again. I am with you, I need some time to recover from the tornado the kids seem to make of the house.

Glad to hear she won't have to be in the sling too much longer. It was hilarious to see her dashing around yesterday with it on. Kids are so resilient.

Naptime and bedtime are my two favorite times of day ;)
